Chinese Toile is one of Cole & Son's earliest designs, redrawn for contemporary interiors while keeping its oriental character intact. First popular in Victorian drawing rooms, the pattern traces pastoral scenes of everyday life in the Far East: figures at work and rest across a landscape of trees, pavilions and hills.

The scenes repeat in a fine half-drop pattern, giving the wallpaper a quiet, storybook rhythm rather than a bold repeat you'd notice from across the room. Look closer and each vignette holds its own small narrative: a fisherman, a garden gathering, a passing boat.
